Ahsoka series breaks with 46 year old rule in episode 2

The Star Wars franchise needs innovation like people need air to breathe. At least that’s what many fans thought before the fifth live-action series Star Wars: Ahsoka, which has now started on Disney+. And indeed: in episode 2 an innovation is presented, never before seen in the franchise.

New Star Wars series on Disney+: Ahsoka takes you to a whole new galaxy

As the name suggests, Star Wars: Ahsoka centers on ex-Jedi Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) who is on the trail of the lost Imperial Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen). Should he be found by his former followers, he might mean the end for the still young New Republic and Ahsoka’s comrades-in-arms.

In episode 2 of the series, a star map is shown revealing Thrawn’s last known location. However, he is not in the famous galaxy far, far away, where all the canon adventures of the Star Wars franchise have been set so far. But in a new galaxy called Peridea.

Exactly what it looks like there has not yet been revealed. What is certain is that for the first time in 46 years of franchise history, the Star Wars canon will be united introduces an entirely new galactic locale. How the series deals with this innovation remains to be seen.

When is Ahsoka Episode 3 coming to Disney+?

New episodes of Ahsoka are released weekly. Episode 3 of the Star Wars series will be released next Wednesday 30th August 2023. The first season will consist of eight episodes.
