On Saturday, it is once again time for Uppsala’s flight day, an event which during the last event four years ago attracted almost 140,000 visitors. Tomorrow, that number is expected to exceed 150,000.
– It’s not just an air show, but it’s also an exercise for a sharp situation, says Tommie Sandström, project manager for Uppsala’s flight day.
Widespread security work
The military and the police have worked together closely for more than six months to ensure that the event lives up to the existing security regulations. For the organizers, this is also an opportunity to show off their business, and work to recruit more people to the respective professions.
– We will be on site and answer questions about the defense, NATO, tax money and other considerations that have become relevant with the recent conflicts, says Tommie Sandström, project manager for Uppsala’s aviation day.
