Agriculture, ISTAT: companies led by under 35s are decreasing

Inflation Istat confirms February prices at the top since 1995

(Finance) – In the last ten years there has been a decrease of about 20% of companies led by under 35: in 2020 there are 104,886, they were 186,491 in 2010. Even young entrepreneurs (up to 40 years) they still fail to take off in their role. Compared to 2010, in 2020 the percentage of farms with young managers fell from 11.5% to 9.3%. In detail, young managers tend to lead details types of companies, strongly characterized by some identifying factors. They are mostly larger than average companies, with leased and unowned land, with at least one business
connected, inclined towards organic practice and the marketing of company products, highly digitized (the computerized companies of young people are 33.6% against 14.0% of non-young people) and innovative (24.4% of young people realized

In addition, the young head of the company has a higher than average educational qualification (only one in five does not go beyond elementary school,
compared to three out of five among company managers over 40) and attends refresher courses (46.5% have attended at least one
training; among the over 40s, 27.2%). Therefore, the young agricultural enterprises, underlines Istat, “are more digitized, multifunctional
