French farmers are angry. In addition to their difficult living conditions and salaries that are too low, they denounce a pile of incomprehensible regulations, arm-length forms and are worried about the finicky controls to which they are subject.
Farmers are also annoyed by the importation of food products that do not meet French standards. Unfair competition, they assure. But should these standards be swept aside? They are established to ensure the quality of our food, avoid soil degradation and respond to the climate challenge.
