Suzanne Osten was born in 1944 at Stora Essingen in Stockholm. After graduating from Viggbyholm School in 1963, she studied art, literature and history at Lund University.

In the late 1960s, she founded Fickteatern, one of Sweden’s first free theater groups, where she also began her career as a director. It writes Young Clara.

– In retrospect, when I did research, I understood that it was not unusual for simultaneous interpreters to become psychotic. In any case, my mother became paranoid and lived in constant fear that the war would break out again. She probably got terrible anxiety from working in such a charged environment, as the World War was after all. And the psychological effects never end. The trauma of the war repeats itself, generation after generation, says Suzanne Osten in the interview.
