Warning, there are spoilers for Agatha All Along: Three years ago, Marvel fans became paranoid. For several weeks, the series WandaVision drove us to the brink of despair with hellish Mephisto references. In the end, they all turned out to be false leads and the existence of an MCU version of the devil remained nothing more than a theory for the time being.
Now comes the surprise redemption in the spin-off series Agatha All Along. The third episode, released on September 26, 2024 on Disney+, confirms: Mephisto actually exists in the MCU! But will we also get to see the Marvel devil?
Agatha All Along redeems Marvel fans with new Mephisto clue
In the third episode, Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) and her coven must face their first test on the witch’s path. Magician Jennifer Kale (Sasheer Zamata) takes the nameless teenage wizard (Joe Locke) aside to warn him about Agatha. And a name is mentioned that immediately makes Marvel fans sit up and take notice: Mephisto.
Marvel fans now finally know that the devil himself is at work in the MCU and is known among witches. But the devilish name-dropping is more than just fan service. Mention of Mephisto also reveals a personal connection to Agatha’s tragic past.
There is a persistent rumor among witches that Agatha Harkness herself was Loss of her son Nicholas Scratch and exchanged it for the Darkhold and thus unlimited power. The witch rumor mill continues to simmer about what exactly happened to Nicholas:
Nobody really knows what happened to him. Some believe he is dead. Others say he is perhaps a demon. Or one of Mephistopheles’ helpers.
We can assume that Agatha All Along will delve deeper into Agatha’s past and the pain of losing her child as the season progresses. Whether after this Mephisto revelation the devil himself will make his MCU debutis not yet known.
Of course, it would be possible to have a hellish cameo in a flashback that could reveal that Agatha actually has a Pact with the devil Or is Mephisto himself perhaps behind the magical seal that hides Teen’s true identity?
However, Marvel fans should be prepared for another possibility: With the WandaVision spin-off, the MCU could once again lead us down a completely wrong track. This time, however, the chances are much better.
