Against racism Aya Nakamura calls for voting against the only

Denouncing “racism in our country”, Aya Nakamura calls for a vote against the National Rally in the second round of legislative elections on Sunday.

Particularly expected on the subject, Aya Nakamura takes a stand. In a message posted on X – formerly Twitter, the rapper calls for voting “against the only extreme to condemn”, Sunday, during the second round of the legislative elections. “I am well placed to understand and know the place of racism in our country”, begins the most listened to French artist in the world. “I understand that my position as an artist requires that I speak out, because it is an important moment for all of us”, continues Aya Nakamura, before calling: “on Sunday we will all go and vote, and against the only extreme to condemn, because there is only one.”

Usually quite quiet on media topics, from elections to recent criticism of her possible participation in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, the singer of Djadja is this time launching a clear call for votes against the RN. She sums it up: “They’re the same ones who get pissed off when we shine, because we haven’t finished shining.”

Aya Nakamura has been the target of racist attacks since her name was mentioned by Emmanuel Macron himself to open the Paris Olympic Games by singing Edith Piaf. A small identity group had notably displayed a banner on which was written “There’s no way Aya. This is Paris, not the Bamako market.” To which the main person concerned had replied: “You can be racist but not deaf. That’s what hurts you! I’m becoming a number 1 state subject in debates etc. but what do I really owe you? Kedal (sic).”
