The election friends, like launched before the EU and US electionsrepresents a whole new type of journalism where readers can ask questions and get answers directly from an extensive database with fact -checked information compiled by our journalists.

In total, the chat bots answered almost 800,000 questions.

Behind Aftonbladet’s election buddies lies hard work by the newspaper’s AI-Nav and editorial development team.

    – This shows that we can offer our audience new ways to take part in our journalism, on their terms and based on their level of knowledge, says Titti Jersler, editorial development manager at Aftonbladet.

    Is based on groundbreaking technology

The election friends are based on a groundbreaking combination between technology and journalism. Instead of “just” reading articles, the audience was able to interact directly with the information, ask questions and get personal answers.

Unlike other chat bots that rely on publicly available data or who go out and search the Internet, the election friends are linked to an extensive database with information collected, processed and reviewed by Aftonbladet’s journalists.
