A new character well known to viewers will see his adventures adapted into a television series by France Télévision and Disney+.
The old heroes who marked the childhood of many generations of spectators are on the rise these days. After Zoroplayed by Jean Dujardin and whose episodes are revealed by France Télévisions, another figure well known to the public will see his adventures adapted into a series and into live action (“real shooting”, with real actors, for those not initiated).
Announced last March at the Séries Mania festival, the project came to fruition with the start of shooting, announced on Wednesday October 2. Filming thus began in Spain, while France Télévisions and Disney+ announced their new collaboration. Produced by Federation Studio France in co-production with Un Pour Tous Productions, Lucky Luke will adapt the iconic comic book by Morris and Goscinny. In total, 8 episodes will punctuate what is announced as an adventure comedy.
For the moment, we do not know in detail which adventure(s) of the cowboy who shoots faster than his shadow will be featured in this new series. But who says live action, says true performer for Lucky Luke. It’s the actor Alban Lenoir, action star on Netflix with Lost ball, Aka Or The wages of fearwho was chosen to play the comic book hero. He succeeds Jean Dujardin, again, who played the character in a film released in 2009. For the moment, we do not know which actors complete the cast, and in particular the names of the actors who could play the famous Dalton brothers, main antagonists of the comics.
For those who were not lulled by this western, Lucky Luke is a Belgian comic strip which began distribution in 1946 and became one of the best-selling in Europe. The designer Morris imagined these adventures featuring a phlegmatic cowboy who shoots faster than his shadow and confronts the criminals of the American West on his horse, Jolly Jumper. Since Morris’ death in 2001, the designer Achdé has taken up the torch.
As for the series with Alban Lenoir, it will be put online first on the subscription streaming platform Disney+, before being subsequently broadcast on France Télévisions channels. For now, the release date has not been revealed.
