After the wave of violence in Norrköping – now charges are brought against five men

On Wednesday, prosecutor Anna Hjorth brought charges against five people who are suspected of involvement in some of the events from last year. The indictment concerns four cases of violations of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods and four cases of public destruction – which are directly linked to the crimes against flammable and explosive goods.

– We should be grateful that several of these bombs did not explode because they were powerful. If they had exploded, this could have led to extensive destruction and a great risk that people could have been seriously injured or, in the worst case, killed, says Anna Hjorth in a press release.

According to the Prosecutor’s Chamber, extensive evidence is invoked – for example, it involves witness observations and various forms of forensic evidence.

One of the accused men is also suspected of particularly serious weapons crime because, according to the prosecutor, he kept a large number of weapons.

Storm surge hit Norrköping

It was at the end of July that the wave of violence intensified in Norrköping. A villa in Hageby was shelled and several events followed in the days after that – a business premises was shelled, an undetonated bomb was thrown into a car company and a gate was shelled.

The development of events culminated in a powerful explosion on Slottsgatan in central Norrköping. Later in the summer, a person was also arrested with some kind of bomb in the Lindö district.
