Blekinge district court sentenced Bokenhielm to fines and damages of just over SEK 30,000 and the verdict has now been appealed to the Court of Appeal.
The goal became a sensitive issue for the Moderates, who, ahead of the 2022 election, saw Bokenhielm as a top defense against the pariah. After the indictment became known, the local moderate politician in Olofström was pressed on the question of whether Bokenhielm should be excluded from the party.
But now it is clear that Bokenhielm has voluntarily chosen to leave both the county and the party, which BLT previously reported. From Vilshult in Olofström, the move has gone west to Skåne.
– We had had enough of the insecurity we felt in Vilshult, we no longer felt at home there after what happened there and what we were exposed to afterwards, Bokenhielm tells the newspaper.
At the same time, while waiting for the Court of Appeal’s verdict, he has stopped paying the membership fee to the Moderates.
– If I am freed there, there is nothing to prevent me from working in a party again, and I still believe that it is the Moderates that best correspond to my views, he tells BLT.
