Even the gods don’t have it easy at Netflix: Last week, Netflix separated from the satirical fantasy adventure Kaos after just one season, in which Jeff Goldblum as Zeus gets into an existential crisis and tries by all means to retain his power over people . Now the next Netflix series has to go.
In contrast to Kaos, Unstable at least made it to the second round. According to a report from Deadline, the comedy series starring Parks and Recreation star Rob Lowe is over at this point. There will be no third season of Unstable. The reason for this is the series’ disappointing performance.
No season 3: Netflix cancels the comedy series Unstable with Rob Lowe after 16 episodes
A big star, but no good streaming numbers: As Deadline writes, the second season of Unstable was unable to match the success of the series opener. The new episodes will start in August not even in the weekly top 10 of the most popular series on Netflix. Two and a half months later, the end is clear.

In Unstable Rob Lowe takes on the role of Ellis Dragon rich, eccentric boss a biotechnological research company. Since the tragic death of his wife, the otherwise brilliant mind has been in an emotional downward spiral and is losing focus at work. There is no way out in sight.
This is exactly where his son, Jackson (John Owen Lowe), comes into play. Despite the harsh blow of fate, he has his Emotions under control and ultimately becomes his father’s most important advisor. The resulting father-son dynamic formed the heart of the series for 16 episodes over two seasons.
Rescue attempt failed: Rob Lowe wanted to place Unstable with the broadcaster he trusted
But we will probably never know how the story continues. According to Deadline, the rescue plan has already failed. Lowe, who created Unstable with his actual son, John Owen Lowe, and producer and screenwriter Victor Fresco, was hoping for one Taken over by the US broadcaster Fox.
Lowe has a good relationship with Fox: not only does he have a first-look deal with the US network. He also leads them Game show The Floor and plays the lead role in the series 9-1-1: Lone Star. He also serves as executive producer on both projects. However, Fox had no need for Unstable.
Apparently Fox is currently developing its own comedy formats, so continuing the Netflix series was out of the question. Of course, there is still hope that another broadcaster or streamer will take over the third season of Unstable. But if it hasn’t worked out at Fox, the chances are slim.
