With films like Netflix hit Don’t Look Up and Apple TV+ drama Causeway, Jennifer Lawrence has returned from an acting hiatus. Released this year is No Hard Feelings, a gritty comedy reminiscent of unbridled high school and teen movies from the late ’90s and early ’00s.

Now a new trailer for the comedy has been released, based on the story discussions before the start triggers.

Age gap in new Jennifer Lawrence comedy sparks criticism

No Hard Feelings revolves around Maddie (Lawrence) surviving as an Uber driver. Than you car confiscated becomes, she faces great financial worries. She then discovers an ad where wealthy parents are looking for their shy 19-year-old son Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman) on a date. To put it bluntly, he should be deflowered before he goes to college. Maddie accepts the offer as a new car is waiting for her as a reward.

The fact that the story of No Hard Feelings takes place between a 30-year-old woman and a 19-year-old has already caused critical reactions. According to Screen Rant, many commented on the first trailer for the comedy that the Age difference between the main characters would evoke unpleasant grooming associations.

What does “grooming” mean? Grooming refers to the targeted contacting of minors by adults with the aim of abusing them. In the trailers, however, it should be clearly shown that Percy finds Maddie’s advances unpleasant and resists them. How exactly the film takes up the topic is also not yet clear.

From the June 22, 2023 you can see the film for yourself. Then No Hard Feelings will start in German cinemas. It is not known whether the controversy surrounding the film will still affect the start date.
