The Swedish NATO agreement with Turkey has provoked reactions around the world. On Tuesday, the foreign ministers of Sweden, Finland and Turkey signed the letter of intent with ten points – including extradition and the fight against terrorism. The Social Democratic parliamentary group is now called to an extra meeting on Friday at 11 am, Kenneth G Forslund (S) confirms for DN.

DN reported in week that Säpo has a list of “at least a dozen” people with PKK affiliation who may be deported, and Turkey has after the settlement demanded that 33 people be extradited. On Thursday afternoon, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan claimed that Sweden had promised to extradite 73 terrorists to Turkey.
The declaration of intent signed by the foreign ministers of the three countries states that Sweden shall support Turkey’s national security, and not provide support to the Kurdish organizations YPG and PYD.
Kenneth G Forslund says that there is a “concern among some people about what this means”.
– I think that both the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister have responded clearly to that and that there is no cause for concern.
Is this the basis for having the meeting tomorrow?
– No, we would have had this even without that. It is completely normal that after this type of meeting with decisive events, the parliamentary group receives feedback from the government and the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the results.
You said that there is a concern among people, does that also apply in the party?
– It probably exists in slightly different circles, based on the fact that you feel uncertain about how this should be interpreted. But as I said, I think that the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister clearly answer those questions, and we must continue to do so.
