After the fans’ record-breaking swish campaign: Troja signs Mattias Persson

Mattias Persson makes a comeback in Troja after a few years of playing in Malmö, Luleå and Denmark. He will settle in Ljungby with his family and wants to end his career at the Småland club.

The only problem is that Troy has a strained economy with a tight player budget. The situation made the supporters take matters into their own hands.

– I tipped the club manager. I said “damn, start a campaign”. It’s a way to bring in cash for the club, and a way for us to contribute a little, says the devoted Troja supporter Erik Nilsson.

Fans have bought shares for SEK 90 each

The supporters have had to buy shares at 90 kroner each for the recruitment and already after two hours 25,000 kroner had been scraped together. On Monday, the contract could be signed.

– It’s obviously great fun. The commitment makes it all more fun and inspired too. I am very much looking forward to the season. Now I’m in a slightly different situation in life than last time, with two children. Last time I came here to play hockey. This time we are moving here to stay, says Mattias Persson to SVT.

It is not the first time that Troja asks the fans for financial support. Last spring, the club had a fundraiser to cover the elite license of 1.5 million kroner.
