There are many things you can do if you have heartbreak. Talk to a friend or make an appointment with a psychologist. The newspaper Mitt i writes about the man who swallowed miniatures of loving couples after a divorce. After the divorce, the artist Martin Lima De Faria felt his heart turn black. He tells the newspaper that he then came up with the idea of swallowing miniatures of loving couples in hard plastic and allowing himself to be x-rayed as they pass through the esophagus as close to the heart as possible. What is the point of swallowing the plastic figures? – I felt quite alone, and sad, black in the heart. It just so happened that I had gone through a divorce. I wished there was a little love couple to repaint my heart. So I thought how I could do it visually, says Martin Lima De Faria. – I went up to the University Hospital, and asked if I could swallow them and they would X-ray me. The answer was “absolutely not”. But then I talked to the manager, and we did it in an old X-ray room, and all the surplus went to the children’s cancer fund, says Martin Lima De Faria – As an artist, I start something that is impossible, says Martin Lima De Faria. He then ate two kilos of asparagus, for them to come out the “natural way”. – It’s not something I recommend, but asparagus is very good, says Martin Lima De Faria. The finished picture is now exhibited at an art gallery in Enskede. • In the player above: Hear Martin Lima De Faria tell why he swallowed the plastic figures.
