After the devastating fire: Now the towers are back at Kockenhus

It was in January 2022 that Kockenhus mansion, between Arild and Mölle on Kullaberg, caught fire. Firefighters worked for several hours to try to save the historic building, but in the end the fire was devastating.

In July, Gyllenstiernska Krapperuptititelsen, which manages the building, applied for planning permission to restore the house. Eventually it was granted by Höganäs municipality, and now one can check off an important part of the work on the list – getting the large towers, which have been rebuilt from the ground up, up on the roof.

– It’s a very nice fit on the towers, so it worked great, says Håkan Holmgren, director of operations at the Gyllenstiernska Krapperupsstiftelsen.

“Should be as it has always been”

Following demands from the municipality, an antiquarian investigation has been carried out, which will be carefully followed during the restoration work.

– It will be quite similar to what it was when it was built. We have made some changes in the form of a larger kitchen, for example, but otherwise it should be as it has always been, both inside and out, says Håkan Holmgren.

According to Håkan Holmgren, the restoration, which will cost around SEK 35-40 million, is expected to be completely completed in just over a year. After that, the house will mainly be used by the foundation, but will also be able to be rented by, among other things, various companies.
