Last week’s train chaos on the subway’s blue line was due to a broken switch at Kungsträdgården, which in turn caused wheel damage to all carriages. Trains were canceled on the entire blue line for several hours.
Now 600 wheel axles on 74 railcars have to be repaired by turning, which is a very time-consuming job. Until it is ready, the blue line will have fewer departures during rush hour.
– It will take a few weeks before the vehicles are fully restored, says Amanda Thorin, responsible for MTR’s maintenance on the subway.
According to MTR, there has been no risk of personal injury.
