After the arrest chaos – now the JO will inspect the detention centers throughout the country

In the past, inmates in detention centers and institutions have had their own cells, but the strained situation in connection with the wave of violence has meant that there is a lack of space. Inmates may, among other things, share rooms or have been placed in isolation cells, sick rooms and police arrests.

– I want to investigate what consequences a double coating has for the people who share a cell, says Katarina Påhlsson, YES.

Details: Arrested were released due to lack of space

The police’s detention centers, which have been partially used, are a simpler form of storage that should really only be used during the first 24 hours after a detention.

According to information to SVT, suspected criminals were released earlier this year because there was not even room in the prisons.

The police have a special event in Stockholm

At the end of January, the police in Stockholm started the special event Emil, which involves locating vacant places in prisons and detention centers in other parts of the country in order to place all detainees.

During the year, JO will make unannounced inspections at detention centers and institutions throughout the country.

The first inspection will be in the detention center in Sollentuna on Wednesday and Thursday.
