He condemned comments that are “nonsensical and provocative”. South Korea’s foreign ministry has therefore summoned China’s ambassador to protest.
Ambassador Xing Haiming made the statement during a dinner with South Korean opposition leader Lee Jae-Myung. He believed that South Korea leans too much on the US in foreign policy.
– When the United States presses China with all its might, some bet that the United States will win and China will lose. But that is obviously a misjudgment, Xing is said to have said.
– I can say with certainty that those who bet on China being defeated will regret it.
