Many of the Disney villains are just as popular with the fan base as the well-known heroes. After books, board games, films and series, a villain land is now to follow, which will mainly deal with well-known characters such as Maleficent.
What kind of rogue country is this? At this year’s D23, an exhibition for future Disney content, new films and series were announced again. These included works such as Frozen 3, The Incredibles 3 and Zootopia 2.
The films and series were accompanied by an announcement for a villain land at Disney World in Orlando. This should please many fans, because the Disney villains are more successful than one might think.
One of the most popular villains is Hades from Hercules:
Villain land in the big Disney park
As Polygon reports, Josh D’Amaro, the head of Disney Parks, has announced plans for a new area at Disney World in Orlando. This area will be a Villain Land, with attractions about iconic Disney villains. D’Amaro said the following:
We love our Disney villains, don’t we? Their evil ambitions give us endless possibilities to tell entirely new stories. […] This land will be home to the villains you know and those you loathe, meaning a happy life in the future may be a distant dream.

There will be new attractions, shops and restaurants. This announcement fits in with many other Disney content that has been released with the villains in recent years. Maleficent has received two successful live-action films with Angelina Jolie and the Descendants series is said to be enjoying great success on Disney Plus. (via The Walt Disney Company)
The Descendants films reinterpret well-known villains and put them into a story aimed at teenagers. You could describe it as an evil High School Musical. Along the way, there are also many books about the villains.
Above all, however, it is the villains such as Maleficent, Hades and Ursula that are the subject of the films. The iconic villains still seem to have many fans today. Books and board games have now been published about the characters.
Disney’s move to create such a park area seems only logical. It remains to be seen whether we will get other villain films after Maleficent. The second part is almost five years old. Find out why you often have to wait at the parks here: A Disneyland employee has revealed why the rides are so often cancelled: In 90% of cases, it is the people’s own fault
