Peter Hines, one of the most famous faces, is leaving Bethesda. Many players and journalists know him as Bethesda’s head of PR. After the release of Starfield, the time has probably come for him.
Bethesda, the company behind Starfield, Elder Scrolls and Fallout, has announced that Peter Hines will be leaving the company.
In a statement on Twitter, Bethesda announced Hines’ resignation and thanked him for his contributions to the studio during his 24 years with the company. Bethesda writes about it themselves:
“Pete’s public presence was only a small part of his role at Bethesda, although the way he represented us spilled over into the values he cultivated here: authenticity, integrity and passion.”
Along with Todd Howard, Hines is one of the most important people at Bethesda
Pete Hines joined Bethesda Softworks in 1999, where he was Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications for over 23 years. It wasn’t until 2022 that he was finally promoted to Head of Global Publishing. Along with Todd Howard, Hines is one of the company’s most famous faces.
Hines also took to Twitter to comment on the resignation. Here he thanked his colleagues and friends who accompanied him for years.
After 24 years, I have decided that my time at Bethesda Softworks is over. I am retiring and will begin an exciting new chapter of my life exploring interests and passions, donating my time where I can, and taking more time to enjoy life.
(…) After a great career, culminating in the incredible release of Starfield, it feels like the time is right.
Many gamers knew Peter Hines primarily through his public appearances, where he represented his company, spoke to players and discussed games like Redfall, Fallout 76 or the new Starfield.
