The next Christopher Nolan film has not yet been officially announced. But Variety asked around and unearthed two interesting snippets of information that give us a first feel for where Nolan’s journey in Hollywood might be headed.

Anyone who has followed Nolan’s work over the past few years will be familiar with Number 6 aka The Prisoner. Already in 2009 The director was linked to a film version of the landmark series, as the Guardian reported at the time. Ultimately, however, the project did not come to fruition.
One of the reasons was the series remake The Prisoner, released in the same year, which was met with critical acclaim little enthusiasm has been recorded. This made another remake unattractive for many studios. Ridley Scott’s planned film remake, which made the rounds in 2016, also never manifested itself on the big screen.
The Prisoner was created by Patrick McGoohan, who also played the lead role. The unnamed character is only referred to as Number 6 in the series. It is a former British secret agent, who quits his job. He is then kidnapped and interrogated as to why he submitted his resignation.
The original series mixes elements from different genres. The Prisoner is science fiction, mystery, drama and psychological thriller at the same time. In addition, the series caused quite a stir due to its unconventional nature experimental design caused a stir in the 1960s – an abstract, provocative spy story.
All of this sounds like perfect ingredients for a new Nolan film, especially in view of Tenet, which draws on spy film tropes all in one cool thought game alienated.
