After months of suspense, Free is finally bringing its Oqee TV app to LG connected televisions. Freebox or Free Mobile 5G subscribers will be able to enjoy numerous streaming programs for free.

Free continues to improve its streaming television offering through its Oqee service (Oqee by Free by its full name). As a reminder, this platform available in the form ofa website and an application allows Freebox users and subscribers to the Free Mobile 5G plan (the unlimited plan) to access free of charge to some 230 TV channels with numerous additional functions (replay, live monitoring, start over, etc.) on various devices: computer, smartphone, tablet, television connected to a Freebox or an Android TV box, a Fire TV or an Apple TV. The Oqee app was also available directly on a connected TV (smart TV for Anglophiles), but only on models running Android and on Tizen, Samsung’s operating system. However, despite this vast array of compatible media, an important reference was missing: LG. And to enjoy Oqee on their television, users of LG models had no other choice than to use their Freebox or an Android TV box.

But this constraint is now a thing of the past since, since April 23, 2024, it is possible to use Oqee directly on an LG television thanks to the new app that Free has developed especially for WebOS, the Korean brand’s operating system. . This is excellent news for LG TV users who have been asking for this port for a long time.

In practice, to install Oqee, all you have to do is go to the LG application store (the LG Content Store) directly on the television. The operation, free, only takes a few seconds with a fiber connection. And as soon as installed, the app is immediately usable, without any configuration. And we can very easily access the numerous contents offered by Free (the TV channels with the aforementioned functions), but also to Oqee Ciné, the free streaming service which offers more than 500 unlimited films and series with just advertising (depending on the principle of AVOD, video on demand financed by advertising). The only condition required to take advantage of the app is to have a television running at least version 4.0 of WebOS (in addition to being connected to the Internet, obviously, via Wi-Fi or Ethernet).

Without being revolutionary, this port will please the many users of LG televisions who have been waiting for it, the Korean brand being one of the most popular in France and in the world. Above all, it proves that Free intends to develop Oqee to make it a truly multiplatform service, capable of operating without Freebox, like Netflix and Disney+.
