  • After Milton: man rescued by cooler 30 miles off Florida coast

    A US Coast Guard helicopter rescued a man in the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday after Hurricane Milton, according to United States Coast Guard News.

    The man was on board a fishing vessel and managed to call the Coast Guard on Wednesday. But it wasn’t until the following day that he could be rescued, clinging to a cooler.

    “This man survived a nightmare scenario, even for the most experienced mariner,” said Coast Guard representative Dana Grady.

    The authority estimated that he survived winds of around 40 meters per second and waves of up to 7.6 meters during his night on the water.

    A tree has fallen over cars on Drottningholmsvägen in Stockholm.

    The emergency services are on site and are directing traffic while they try to remove the tree, which is currently over three lanes of traffic. According to the Rescue Service, two cars were hit by the tree.

    An ambulance is on the scene, but there are currently no reports of injuries.

  • Smuggled a ton of cannabis – six are sentenced

    Six people are sentenced to between four and nine years in prison for serious drug smuggling and particularly serious drug crimes, the Gothenburg District Court states in a press release.

    One of Ireland’s most wanted men, Sean McGovern, has been arrested by Interpol in Dubai.

    “This is thanks to the joint efforts of the Irish authorities and the United Arab Emirates,” Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock said in a statement.

    Sean McGovern is said to be Irish cartel kingpin Christy Kinahan’s right-hand man.

    He has been wanted for over two years and is suspected of murder and of having conducted organized crime.

    Irish authorities now want him extradited.

  • Fish smell in Gothenburg after shrimp campaign

    A distinct smell of fish has spread around Munkebäckstorget in Gothenburg, writes GP.

  • Boy on moped hit police after chase
