According to Ambassador Désiré Nyaruhirira, special political and diplomatic advisor to the Secretary General of the Francophonie, everything is ready for the legislative and regional elections. He said it on the microphone of our correspondent in Lomé, Peter Dogbé.
“ The experts delivered reassuring conclusions on the quality of the Togolese electoral file, in terms of reliability of the voter census operation, its biometric nature and its geographical and sociological representativeness in the 39 prefectures and five regions of the country.
Thus, 53.8% of women (are) registered compared to 46.18% for men. Through these figures, ladies and gentlemen, Togo stands out as an example of inclusion and political participation of women. In short, I can say, on behalf of the experts, that the Togolese electoral file is sufficiently reliable to allow the next regional and legislative elections to be held in conditions of confidence. »
In Togo, the legislature ends in three months, but no date has yet been set for the legislative and regional elections, which were to be organized by the end of the year. A few days ago, the leader of the National Alliance for Change (ANC), Jean-Pierre Fabre, had questioned the division of the electoral map and requested a redistribution of constituencies.
