Kati Kivimäki has decided to leave her position as Liiga’s CEO. Mikko Pulkkinen has been chosen as Kivimäki’s successor.
Kati Kivimäki has decided to leave his position as CEO of the Norwegian Hockey League. The chairman of KooKoo’s board and member of the SM league’s board has been elected as Kivimäki’s successor Mikko Pulkkinen48.
Kivimäki started as the league’s CEO in June 2022. He says on the league’s website that he has been thinking about his own role more and more towards the end of the season and that he has discussed the matter several times with the league’s chairman Heikki Hiltunen with.
– The year has been great and successful in many ways. We accomplished a lot of big things, and as far as the league’s competitive product is concerned, the season has been downright amazing. That’s why the feelings are admittedly a bit contradictory, says Kivimäki on the website (you will switch to another service).
– I firmly believe in the work we started together, but at the same time I feel that it is better for the Liiga’s CEO to come from a deeper background in the sport, Kivimäki continues.
Kivimäki talks in the background together with his successor as he prepares to change the CEO. Pulkkinen, who built his career in the technology sector, will officially start his position next Monday, May 8.
Heikki Hiltunen is disappointed with Kivimäki’s departure, but says he understands this decision. Hiltunen would like to thank Kivimäki both personally and on behalf of the board for his tireless work.
– Committed and tireless work with the benefit of the series in mind – and the season was very successful in many ways, Hiltunen describes.
