On New Year’s Eve 2018, Tyler Ninja Blevins was at the peak of his fame as a Fortnite streamer on Twitch, but that’s when the ultimate embarrassment befell him. He invited an audience of millions in Times Square in New York to dance the Fortnite dance “Floss” with him. A terrible failure. 5 years later he can laugh about it.
What was the situation then?
The crowd left the streamer hanging
This was the embarrassing moment: Ostensibly egged on by his team, Ninja asked the audience to do the Fortnite dance “Floss” in the pouring rain and danced it himself frenetically.
But no matter where you looked in the crowd, people weren’t even thinking about dancing, they were ignoring Ninja. Apparently they weren’t there because of him.
The camera tried to find at least a few people in the audience who participated. But in the background of every dancer you could see dozens who completely ignored it.
In desperation, Ninja turned directly to the audience and said the momentous sentence: “I’m not seeing enough movement” – no one is moving.
Why was that so embarrassing? This scene is seen as a sign of absolute overconfidence, that someone thinks they are much more important than they actually are and believes that people are only there because of them.
Since then, Ninja has been constantly teased about the number by friends and enemies alike.
This is how he sees it now: In 2023, Ninja can apparently laugh wonderfully about the situation himself. He’s currently trending again thanks to “Fortnite OG” and he’s posting a video of himself on Twitter, where he looks ecstatic and surprised and groans with satisfaction.
He writes: This is what someone looks like when people dance along, and he shares the hashtag: “NinjaNotEnougMovement.”
This is an example of how you can deal with really bad moments in a somewhat healthy way.
