With the new depths in World of Warcraft, Cortyn dares to heal for the first time. And that was surprisingly solid, because Blizzard did a good job.
With the second season of The War Within, the depths were revised. Not only are they more fun and interesting, they now also offer healers the opportunity to explore the depths with Brann as a tank.
Because the whole thing goes hand in hand with some new successes, I couldn’t help it, a new priestess at level 80 (because my shadow priestess will never be holy) and only equipped her over the depths. Now my priestess has reached Itemlevel 642 and I can proudly announce: I have completed all depths at level 11 as a healer, without a group:
Brann as a tank – more creative than real tanks
At Brann as a tank, Blizzard even really came up with something. Because Brann not only needs healing to stay alive, but also to make additional damage:
This ensures that it is best to let Brann lose a few life points and only then start healing. This causes solid damage to all enemies nearby. By “waiting” at the beginning you also have enough time to distribute a few dots yourself or to punch out one or the other damage magic.

The only sticking point for me as a priest was bosses who actually have to be interrupted because they channel extremely high damage to all characters. I occasionally reached my limits, especially with (even) bad equipment. You just notice that holy priests should get a real interrupt after all the years.
Basically, playing with Brann was extremely fun – especially because he is as moody as a tank as real teammates. There is often an additional group with “Body Pull” or he screams “You have to avoid!”, Only then to run into the area effect.
When the mana went out, he often put a campfire for regeneration-only to wait for it, but to jump back into the next group of elite opponents.
Pacific equipment for healers-the perfect damage boost
A real blessing was the Brann jewelry “Pacific Equipment”-as recommended in our perfect Brann equipment for healers. Because this regularly conjures up a large mech that can be checked for a few seconds. The mech causes extremely high damage to all destinations nearby. In his short lifespan of 10 seconds, he can damage 50 million or more. Even large groups of enemies can destroy this extremely quickly.
This is particularly strong because you are invulnerable even during this time and the mech has so many life points that it remains until the end.
The disadvantage, however, is that you cannot heal Brann in the meantime – because you control the mech. As soon as the announcement comes that the mech ends up, I had to pump all healing in Brann.
Should Brann still die in the meantime, you should watch that all current enemies are really killed with the mech – because then Brann will be revived immediately and is ready for use.
If that did not succeed, after the mech, all the mobs came to me in the joy of joy to show me again where the respawn point is at this depth.
Conclusion: depths are the perfect introduction to healer life
Was it really difficult in the end? No, probably not. Even if the first depths were the absolute horror, which was both on the Brann-nerfs and the lack of equipment, the later depths were comparatively relaxed. Every single item that I was able to replace made the next depth easier and better.
As a healer, depths can be a little tough, especially if you don’t use the Brann jewelry piece “Pacific equipment”. Then individual depths as a healer can also take 25 to 30 minutes.
Nevertheless, I believe that depths took a little “concern” from healing. They were an educational experience, and when I look at how my behavior changed from the first to the last healer depth, I can imagine healing in mythical+-even if I have to heal 4 wildly around.
Therefore, I also want to give you all the recommendation: If you have made a big arc around the healing role so far because you feel unsafe or have fear of failure-just try it in the setting of depths.
Regardless of whether you start at level 11, or only slow down with a 4 or 5. The depths are an astonishingly good “exercise mode” in which you can learn a lot, for which it would otherwise need some (unpleasant) dungeons with teammates that you have to scratch from the floor. If you think about the entry or return to WoW, we have 3 classes here with which it is easy.
