“Afropolitan”: the humorous web-series back for a season 2

Afropolitan the humorous web series back for a season 2

This is the humorous web-series of the moment on TV5 Monde and TV5 Afrique, Afropolitanshort program of 5 to 10 minutes returns for a second season just as hilarious as the first. Afropolitandesigned and produced by Aline and Soraya Milla tells the adventures of two sisters confronted with the central question of identity when one has a double culture.

Yvoire and Janis are two sisters and they are as different as possible. An explosive comic duo wanted by the other duo, the one formed by the creators of the series, Soraya Milla and her mother Aline Milla: ” It was the way to issue completely opposite and different opinions. This is why we chose Yvoire, the school of integration, etc. And who still has his little character and his touch of humor. And Janis, her watchword is disorder. »

Yvoire and Janis are two facets of the same universe, that of young Afropolitans for whom the quest for identity is an issue. And to approach this serious subject, Soraya and Aline Milla have chosen humor.

Humor why? Because people laugh first and then they think. The episode on colorism for example, we laugh first and then we say to ourselves that yes, it’s hot. So with humor you can say a lot of things. The points of view are multiple and the identities with which we are confronted are multiple. »

I am hybrid »

Afropolitan, it is also a kick to received ideas, whether in France or in Africa, about these generations born in France. Soraya Milla: I am hybrid! Because there is always this question. In France, I am seen as a black, when I go to Africa, they see me as a white, so where am I? Finally, I made peace. I’m hybrid and I didn’t try to be more African than those who stayed on the continent. Or here, to seem more integrated and show that I master all the cultural codes… No more! »

Like the first season, the second deconstructs clichés and received ideas, through even tastier misunderstandings when the “aunties” come from Africa for the holidays to try to understand their nieces who grew up in Paris.

The action takes place in the African district of Paris, the Goutte d’Or. And some local celebrities, like Jocelyn Armel, aka the self-proclaimed Bachelor king of sapeurs, lent their verve to Soraya and Aline Milla
