The government has been using this limit of 390,000 euros for some time. Councilor Dennis de Vries (Residential) is happy with the lowering of the affordability limit: “€435,000 was – and is – completely out of reach for many people with a middle income. I previously worked in education and know from my own experience that living in the city is actually unaffordable. By lowering the limit, we give middle-income earners more of a chance on the Utrecht housing market.”
