Sony’s Afeela offers access to 3D maps and augmented reality views, thanks to Unreal Engine 5.3 technology. According to CNET, a variety of entertainment options are available on board, including Sony’s games and movies. Unreal Engine is also used for training purposes in virtual environments in the vehicle’s multi-camera systems.

Sony Honda Mobility announced that it will collaborate with Microsoft to leverage Azure AI cloud computing in the development of Afeela. Polyphony Digital’s simulation technology and SHM’s real vehicle development aim to combine the virtual and real world, especially in terms of human senses and emotions.

Interestingly, the Afeela Prototype 2024 will be added to Gran Turismo 7 via a patch update later this year. This will allow users to experience the car in-game before its official release, but the exact release date has not been announced yet.
