Kilde’s season ended at the World Cup race in Wengen, Switzerland in January, when he fell off the track and violently collided with the safety nets. In the situation, he received a deep wound on his leg and injured his shoulder.

Kilde was in a wheelchair for several weeks after the accident.

His calf was amputated the day after the accident. The shoulder was also operated on in January.

After the accident, his recovery prognosis was good, although it was known that rehabilitation would take time.

At the end of May, an alpine skier described to the Norwegian magazine Verdens Gang that recovery has been a rollercoaster.

– Now I’m at the level where I was thinking of going back to being an athlete, he told the magazine.

VG toldthat Kilde returned to skiing in June for the first time since his injury. Kilde said that, despite the leg’s lack of control and strength, he had no pain.

However, adversity struck in July. Kilde had another shoulder surgery while in the United States, as the shoulder injured in the accident became inflamed.

The athlete told in his Instagram postthat at first he thought the pain was due to the increase in load after he returned to more normal training.

At that time, the doctor of the Norwegian alpine team told To VG, that Kilde has a new rehabilitation period ahead of him and that it is too early to say anything about the prognosis.

In his career, Kilde has won Olympic silver in alpine combined and Olympic bronze in super giant slalom, as well as World Championship silver in super giant slalom and downhill.

He has also been selected for the Norwegian national team for the coming season.
