The popular swimming facility The Reef in Fredrikshamn in Denmark has temporarily closed after a rat was seen inside the pool on Saturday.

– We had a rat here last Saturday. We’re not taking any chances, so we’re closed until Friday, says a spokesperson for The Reef.

Anticimex is involved and fifty people are working to look for the rat.

– We check sewers, we check everything.

Several vacationers who had planned a visit to the bath were met by the announcement of closure and were disappointed.

The hotel’s director Marianne Bredevang writes to Göteborg-Posten that they tried to compensate guests with food, entry to another bathhouse and gift cards for hotel stays.

According to Marianne Bredevang, Saturday’s rat sighting was the second in two weeks, and rats are “obviously not guests we want”. There is no information about the closure yet on the water park’s website.
