Adventure epic with Liam Neeson that is now almost forgotten

Scandal films like Trainspotting portrayed the wild side of the hard-drinking Scots, but there is a whole other side too. Brave, loving, loyal – that’s how we see the heroes in classics like Braveheart and Highlander and also in ours today’s TV tip Rob Roy. The adventure film from 1995 is almost forgotten, but it shows a gripping biopic in a breathtaking landscape.

Rob Roy on TV: Liam Neeson defends himself against the authorities

Clan leader Rob Roy (Liam Neeson) has a difficult time providing for his people in the Scottish Highlands of the 18th century. So he borrows money from the Marquis of Montrose (John Hurt), but soon becomes entangled in a devious plan. When his wife Mary (Jessica Lange) is also abused, Rob is no longer willing to accept the injustice.

Rob Roy speaks emotionally about honesty and loyalty

Rob Roy tells it true story of a heroic manwho fights relentlessly for justice. But behind the masculine strength there is also a sensitive soul, which is why Roy is ranked fifth among the most romantic Scots in films and series.

On Rotten Tomatoes, audiences and critics agree and give it an above-average rating of approx. 75 percent. It says there:

Where Braveheart was a courageous and glorious hymn to fortitude on the battlefield, Rob Roy is a more personal, intelligent and exciting exploration of honor, honesty and loyalty.

That is also praised excellent script by Alan Sharp, which would only select the cinematically valuable scenes from the historical background. The main cast does the rest to captivate the audience.

In Rob Roy you see Liam Neeson as an emotionally charged hero, next year he will hopefully make us laugh. Because he will play the leading role in the remake of the comedy classic The Naked Gun.

When will the biopic Rob Roy with Liam Neeson be on TV?
