(Finance) – On the sustainability front, biofuels are today the “answer” to put on the table in the medium and long term so that in 2050 the sector will be net zero. That’s what he said today Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma (Adr) during theevent “Gas and fuels: bio is possible – New frontier for the industry of the South”, organized on the initiative of Deserve Foundationin collaboration with Eni, at the Gela Biorefinery, Eni Corporate University Conference Room.
Regarding sustainable or green fuels for aviation – he underlined stub – “we are active but we would like to be more active; it is true that production is rising but we are far from the numbers that would be needed. Something is moving but we are far away: today production is not in adequate quantities. The demand is there, the interest also, but a framework of incentive rules and a policy of tax advantages are needed, as happens in America, where there are tax breaks. We are asking for a support policy, as has been done for the launch of renewables, where there has been a campaign it has been successful and we see something similar for biofuels”.
“Adr, which signed the decarbonisation pact, – added theto – feels, like the whole national and world economy, the urgency of developments for the issue of sustainability and the achievement of net zero: a Pact signed with all the realities of our sector and with all our players, Eni in primis , to contribute to the aviation transition. This Table produced an initial warning, namely that it is necessary to create a system: to accelerate the path of decarbonisation, ideological positions are not needed but all the opportunities that science and technology make available must be used”.
The president of Adr, Claudio De Vincenti, highlighted the role of today’s seminar which “aims to be to think about a decisive sector on the road to decarbonisation of biogas and biofuels, and which can play an important role above all for industrial policy and also for the South for the opportunities that can to derive”.
