Adobe Officially Launches Photoshop on the Web

Adobefor the web on Wednesday for all users with paid plans. Photoshop officially launched its product. The web version has been in beta for almost two years. It currently comes with Firefly-powered AI tools such as generative fill and generative expand. The company said the tools available in the toolbar on the web are group-based based on workflows, such as duplicating an image or selecting an object. Photoshop on the web shows the full name of the tools for beginners instead of showing the description in the tooltip.

Adobe said users can easily collaborate on files by sharing links with another person, even if they don’t have a subscription. In May, the company announced Firefly-powered features like generative expand, which lets you expand an image and fill it with content based on a prompt, and generative fill, which can add and remove objects while keeping the context of the image intact. At that time, these features were only available in the beta version of Adobe Photoshop. It is now also available in the web version, which could become a platform for Adobe to release faster updates or testing features.

Adobe noted that the web version has the majority of the tools on the desktop, including a contextual taskbar that suggests next steps and tools based on workflow. However, the web version does not yet include the patch tool, pen tool, smart object support and polygon lasso. The company said it is working on porting these tools to Photoshop for the web. The company explained to The Verge that it has no plans to offer a free version on the web at this time.
