In an interview with TV4 Nyheterna, the mother Wafaa Abdi told about the grief and the shock call she received during the school day on March 2, 2022.
Her eight-year-old son, Adil, had fallen from a cliff and hit his head. During the following night, the boy died in hospital from the brain damage he suffered.
The then principal of the school was charged with work environment violations for not having remedied the risk posed by the steep rockfall. This despite the fact that the risk had been discussed at the school, according to people who testified in the investigation.
On Wednesday, the Gothenburg district court cleared the rector of the suspicions.
– According to our assessment, it was not clear to the principal that she was expected to map risks linked to the mountain in the systematic work environment work. It is also not proven that she knew that children often climbed the mountain, despite the fence, stairs and the presence of lifeguards. She cannot therefore be held responsible for deficiencies in the working environment at the mountain, nor has she acted negligently. The indictment is therefore dismissed, says court president Åsa Toll.
