The artwork, made by Daniel Roozendaal, came in honor of the Utrecht Tourstart in 2015 in Utrecht. Under the motto “Red Jan and Joop van de demolition”, the municipal council fractions of CDA, PvdA, D66 and GroenLinks previously asked about the disappearance of the mural. They called it “a blamage” if the artwork would disappear from the cycling city of Utrecht.
