Additional convicts are appealing the verdict in the Malå murder

There were three people – a man in his 20s, a woman in her 40s and a 17-year-old – who were sentenced for the murder in Malå last winter. In addition, a 50-year-old was sentenced to aggravated protection of a criminal.

Prosecutor Andreas Nyström has previously told SVT that he intends to appeal the verdict against the woman and the man in their 50s.

– I do not share the district court’s opinion that the woman has acted with an intention of indifference, he says and calls for her to receive life imprisonment.

– Against the man who was sentenced for aggravated protection of a criminal, first and foremost murder and secondly incitement to murder are charged, says Anderas Nyström.

The murder victim’s relatives are also appealing the sentence against the 50-year-old man.

Demands acquittal instead of life

The life-sentenced 20-year-old’s defense lawyer, Erik von Ahn, is also appealing the sentence.

– We do not share the district court’s assessment on the issue of responsibility, he says and hopes for an acquittal when the case proceeds in the Court of Appeal.
