Adam Thulin about the difficult time after Sweden’s master chef

As a 21-year-old, Adam Thulin took all of Sweden by storm when he won “Sweden’s Master Chef”. After that, a brilliant career took off – but everything has a downside. Adam crashed and took full-time sick leave.

– My life eventually became a to-do list, he says.

It was two years ago that Adam Thulin, who is now 23 years old, participated in the program. After the win, he was offered a job at Markus Aujalay’s fine dining restaurant, cooked in “Nyhetsmorgon” and made guest appearances at various restaurants.

– When I look back, I am very happy and grateful for all the opportunities I have been given. I have learned an incredible amount, he says.

“I needed a break”

But the journey after “Sweden’s master chef” has not only been easy. Just a week ago, Adam Thulin published a post on Instagram, where he explained why he had been absent for a while. He has been on sick leave.

– I drove at 180 and in the end it came to an end, says Adam.

Adam tells how he tried again and again to make life work, without success. After spending time with a therapist, he was advised to take a break.

– One day she said: “Now you have to trust me, this will not end well. Now you can take sick leave full-time.” I did that too and left Stockholm, he says.

“Have learned what is important in life”

Adam is now back after his sick leave and tells us that he has completely re-evaluated things in life.

– I have learned what is important. The most important thing in life is all loved ones, everything else is just a plus on the side, he says.

Adam has also previously opened up about things that have been tough in life. In the program “Your personality” with Anders Hansen, he talks about how he started abusing amphetamines and became homeless.

– I have been afraid to talk openly about it, but I have received a very nice response. It’s nice to be able to help others. I haven’t done anything, I’ve only talked about myself. But obviously it helps a lot of people, he says.

The medical record has not only taught Adam what is important in life. He has also been given a clearer direction, now Adam knows what he wants to do.

– I have a boyish dream from the movie Rattatouille – and that is to go to Paris and work as a chef, says Adam Thulin.
