Important Emån’s flows are as low or lower than during the extreme year 2018. The urgent situation means that the county administrations in Jönköping and Kalmar demand a stop to irrigation without permission.
The county administrations consider water withdrawals without a permit to be illegal. Anyone who still uses the water risks a fine.
Right now, more water is being taken out of Emån than is being added. The forecasts for the next two weeks also look gloomy without any major amounts of rain.
