Actors’ strike could affect Europe – the TV series under threat

An actors’ strike in Hollywood would affect several television series currently shooting in Europe.

Among other things, “House of the dragon” is mentioned as a threatened production.

At the beginning of July, it was announced that there will not yet be a strike for the American actors’ union SAG-AFTRA – instead, negotiations will continue. If there is no agreement before July 12, a strike is still possible. They would then join the American screenwriters’ strike in the Writers Guild of America union.

An actors’ strike would not only affect American productions. Several TV series are currently being shot in Europe, including “House of the dragon”, “Anfor” and “Industry”. The strike would also affect Kate Winslet’s drama “The place” and the Disney production “Doctor Who” is threatened.

Hitting the American film and television industry hard

However, “The lord of the rings: The rings of power” has just finished filming – so Tolkien fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Apple tv+ production “Slow Horses” has reportedly completed all scenes with lead actor and union member Gary Oldman, ahead of a potential strike.

A cast strike would hit the American film and television industry hard, in addition to the script strike already underway. If the actors’ union decides to go on strike, it would be the first time in over six decades that two unions in the industry have gone on strike at the same time.
