Famous for his interpretation of Jean-Claude Dusse in Les Bronzés or for his role in Marche à l’ombre, the actor Michel Blanc died this Friday, October 4, 2024 at the age of 72, following a shock anaphylactic. Dr Gérald Kierzek tells us more.
During the day of October 3, 2024, the actor Michel Blanc, well known for his various roles in French cinema, passed away. According to information communicated by BFM, he suffered anaphylactic shock. A serious allergic reaction, which took the life of the 72-year-old artist.
What is anaphylactic shock?
According to the first information circulating, Michel Blanc carried out a medical examination. It was during this that the allergic reaction would have taken place. Questioned, Dr. Gérald Kierzek, emergency physician and medical director of Doctissimo, told us more. “During an exam, like a scanneran MRI or coronary angiographythere is an injection of contrast products and this product is often iodine-based. An allergic shock can then occur.
Anaphylactic shock or allergic shock or angioedema is the most serious allergic reaction. “It can also occur after ingestion of food, an insect bite or even taking a medication to which the person knows or is not allergic.” indicates the emergency doctor.
What are the other symptoms?
In the case of Michel Blanc, emergency services were quickly notified, but the actor suffered a cardiac arrest which was fatal. “Generally, a few minutes after taking it, general symptoms appear such as a change in voice, difficulty breathing, as well as swelling of the mucous membranes of the eyes and face.” explains our expert again. “Then a drop in blood pressure occurs until cardiac arrest.”
If this happens to you, know that you must react very quickly, “even before the first symptoms appear, as soon as you realize that you have consumed something to which you are allergic. insists the emergency doctor. “And at the first symptoms of difficulty breathing or swelling, by calling 15, if you do not know you are allergic”.
People who have already suffered from serious allergies are prescribed an adrenaline auto-injector pen after an allergy assessment. “It is the only remedy to inject to reduce the symptoms while waiting for help.” concludes Gérald Kierzek.
