Donald Sutherland is the father of Kiefer Sutherland and is known for his roles in “Hunger Games”, “Kelly’s Heroes” and “M*A*S*H”.
He was born in Saint John, New Brunswick on July 17, 1935. After graduating in engineering and drama, he moved to London and trained as an actor at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.
He made his film debut in the Italian horror film Il Castello dei Morti Vivi in 1964 and went on to have a long and successful career. In the early 1970s he played opposite Jane Fonda in “Klute” and Julie Christie in “Don’t Look Now”.
In 1980, he played Calvin Jarrett in the four-time Oscar winner “Ordinary People”, and the following year he had the lead role in the spy thriller “Eye of the needle”.
He died after a long illness and was 88 years old.
