Actor Carl Weathers known for the Rocky movies has died

The American actor who died on Thursday was also known for his roles in the films Predator and Happy Gilmore.

American actress Carl Weathers has died at the age of 76.

The manager of the actor known for the Rocky movies by Matt Luber according to Weathers died on Thursday.

– He died peacefully in his sleep, said Luber in his announcement.

Weathers’ most famous role was the boxer Apollo Creed Sylvester Stallone starred in the Rocky movies. World heavyweight champion Creed was the title character in the first two films as Rocky Balboa’s main opponent in the boxing ring. Creed also appeared in the next two films.

Creed’s name was revived in 2015 with a new film series in which by Michael B. Jordan played by Apollo Creed’s son Adonis enters the boxing ring.

Weathers also played another Hollywood superstar known for his muscles Arnold Schwarzenegger with in the 1987 action film Predator.

In 1996 Weathers was seen by Adam Sandler starring in the comedy film Happy Gilmore – the Pro, where he played the titular character’s former golf pro Chubbs Peterson.

Weathers’ most recent roles were in Disney’s Star Wars series The Mandalorian, where he played the character Greef Karga in all three seasons.

Growing up in New Orleans, Weathers played American football in his youth. In the 1970-1971 season, he played a few games for the NFL team Oakland Raiders.
