Active solidarity income: an unsuitable device?

Active solidarity income an unsuitable device

The French government must present, at the beginning of June 2023, its bill for full employment entitled France Travail. Among the key measures of the text a reform of the RSA. The active solidarity income, received by nearly two million French people, provides a safety net for the most precarious.

It is supposed to accompany a process of integration, of return to employment, but in fact, the device is most often reduced to the payment of a financial benefit. This is what the government wants to change, which intends to condition the allocation of this sum to effective steps under penalty of suspension, or even radiation. After having mentioned the possibility of forcing recipients to 15 to 20 hours of compulsory activities, the Minister of Labor talks about setting an objective adapted to each recipient. The vagueness surrounding this reform worries recipients who fear sanctions, at a time when the Court of Auditors denounces fraud in social benefits.
