A little more than half a year after its theatrical release, Bad Boys: Ride or Die lands on Netflix as a streaming subscription. The fourth part of the popular action series starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence grossed over $400 million at the box office and provides two hours of adrenaline.

The first Bad Boys film was released in cinemas in 1995 and became a complete success. Eight years later, Smith and Lawrence returned to the streets of Miami. After that, however, the series lay idle for a surprisingly long time. It wasn’t until 2020 that the unrestrained riot was revived with Bad Boys For Life.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die follows exactly this revival. Someone is trying to tarnish the legacy of Captain Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano). Allegedly the boss of Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) was involved in crooked business dealings. The detectives suspect a conspiracy.

It doesn’t take long before Mike and Marcus are on the run from their own people. This creates an extremely amusing and entertaining dynamic – last but not least, the two of them still haven’t learned to ask the questions first before jumping into battle. The Bad Boys series continues in an extremely chaotic manner.
However, it’s not just the chaos that gives the fourth part a pulse. Another element that has accompanied Bad Boys since its return to the screen four years ago is the struggle with age. Mike and Marcus aren’t getting any younger and are toying with the idea of retirement – a quiet life with friends and family.
Contrary to the vulgar action orgy that is at the heart of every Bad Boys adventure, the images flooded with glowing sunlight take on a melancholic tinge that puts the ostentatiously staged violence in relation to its consequences. Things can’t go on like this forever, but for now there’s no time to breathe.
