Action-packed mix of fantasy, John Wick and Marvel bombast that nobody had on their radar

Dazzling armour, brightly colored fantasy battles and ancient deities that threaten humanity. What sounds like the central parts of Marvel movies like Avengers 4: Endgame or Eternals are the central elements of Saint Seiya: Warriors of the Zodiac – The Movie, who brings one of the most successful manga of all time to the screen with John Wick-Action. Now there is the spectacle in the cinema.

Fantasy crackers with John Wick knights for Marvel fans: That’s what Saint Seiya is all about

In Saint Seiya: Warriors of the Zodiac, street urchin Seiya (Mackenyu) suddenly discovers that he is destined to protect young Sienna (Madison Iseman). In her is actually the legendary Greek deity Athena, whose mighty power-hungry paramilitaries like Guraad (Famke Janssen) eye enviously.

But to live up to his role, Seiya still has a lot to learn. And overcome many enemies. As the trailer promises, the cinema blockbuster is peppered with martial arts choreographies that would even make John Wick sit up and take notice.

On paper, Saint Seiya looks like a sort of bingo game that combines Marvel fantasy, John Wick fights, CGI bombast and costume drama. Game of Thrones star Sean Bean and X-Men heroine Janssen join the party. And Mackenyu can already show how well he would do in Netflix’s One Piece series.
