13 years ago, Snow White and the Huntsman, a dark reinvention of the classic fairy tale Snow White, hit theaters. In it, Kristen Stewart plunged into an epic fantasy adventure that is more… Bombast the Lord of the Rings films as being based on the dreamy Disney version.
However, in the sequel, The Huntsman & The Ice Queen, there is no trace of Stewart’s Snow White. In order to turn the material into a film series, the focus was on the character portrayed by Chris Hemsworth Hunter Eric placed. Tonight you can watch the film, which features three other Hollywood stars, on television.

The Huntsman & The Ice Queen is both prequel and sequel. The story revolves around the events of the original, so to speak. Alongside Hemsworth, Charlize Theron returns as the evil Queen Ravenna. We also get to know her sister Freya (Emily Blunt) and the intrepid warrior Sara (Jessica Chastain).

The result is a visually stunning fantasy blockbusterwhich brings an icy winter landscape to life with lavish CGI effects and lets its characters crash through the fairytale setting in stylish action scenes. The film was directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, a visual effects expert in Hollywood. He had previously worked on the first two Pirates of the Caribbean films, among others.
The major restructuring of the fantasy series was still unsuccessful: with a budget of 115 million US dollars (excluding marketing costs), The Huntsman & The Ice Queen only managed to gross 165 million US dollars at the box office is therefore considered a flop. Last but not least, its predecessor brought in almost $400 million (figures via Box Office Mojo). Since then there has been no sign of life from the series.
Is part 3 of the Snow White/Huntsman saga coming? The creative minds behind the fairytale blockbuster actually left a back door open. Thanks to a post-credit scene at the end of the second part, there is the possibility of one day continuing the story with Snow White. However, we should don’t have too high hopes on the return of Kristen Stewart and Co.

With advertising, the broadcast lasts until 1:25 a.m. There is no repeat. You can currently watch the film with a streaming subscription on Amazon Prime Video. You’ll have to hurry though as it’s disappearing at the end of the month. The predecessor, Snow White and the Huntsman, is also available on Amazon in the Flat.
